Why moms feel more overwhelmed during summer with kids

Every summer starts with good intentions.

More memories. More outings. More sunshine.

But after five kids, I learned something nobody really says out loud. Summer also creates more emotional exhaustion for moms.

More snacks. More packing. More transitions. More noise. More mess.

I remember sitting in the car after a splash pad day with towels everywhere, snacks crushed into the seats, and my baby crying because she missed her nap. Nothing “bad” had happened, but I still felt completely overstimulated.

That is because overstimulation is usually not one big moment. It is hundreds of tiny demands stacking on top of each other all day long.

The biggest thing that helped me was simplifying everything. Fewer things to carry. Simple systems already packed. Backup essentials ready before I even left the house.

Summer stopped feeling lighter when I chased perfection.

It started feeling lighter when I reduced mental clutter.

Key Takeaways

• Summer increases mental load for moms
• Overstimulation comes from constant small demands
• Simplifying systems reduces stress
• Moms deserve support too

👉 Make summer feel lighter with simple systems that help you feel more prepared 💛
